Does anyone know if I can cancel my subscription to 2021? Only 2 weeks in and I’m not impressed.
Welcome to ordinary time in these not so ordinary days. I know it’s been more than 7 days, but I am already exhausted.
But I have news to share.
We have a new member!
Melissa Grube, MD joined us this year. She practices in Mequon. Please welcome her.
Dues and Membership Stuff
For those who haven’t yet paid, dues are due. Dues are $50 for practicing physicians, $25 for retired physicians, $25 for medical residents, $10 for nurses and other allied healthcare workers. Religious (priests, deacons, nuns, monks, seminarians) are free as are medical students. Membership Renewal Form
Please make your checks out to Milwaukee Guild CMA and send them to our treasurer:
Dr. Todd Miller
4230 Oakmont Trail
Waukesha, WI 53188
For those of you who have continuing education funds, remember they can be used to pay dues.
While I know not all of you are supporting our work financially, for those who are, you allow this guild to continue its work.
I am also attaching our membership form, especially for those of you in practice. We have been getting requests through our Facebook page for referrals to Catholic physicians so I want to keep everything up to date. Send it to me at 2735 N Hackett Ave Milwaukee, WI 53211 so I can keep our membership rolls up to date.
Virtual Meditations on Salvifici Doloris Continues
Our guild is sponsoring this which is being held the 4th Wednesday of each month. This month, we will explore Section II: The World of Human Suffering. It will be at 7:30 PM CST.
If you are interested, I am using a different email, so please contact me at [email protected]
We’re On Facebook!
Just as a reminder, we have a Facebook page. Again, thanks to the work of Jerry Nora, Stephanie Armstrong, and Mateo Nicholso who have been keeping us up to date.
Like us! If you want to join: https://www.facebook.com/cmamilwaukee/
Also, there has been a request to form a social group so we can “vent” safely. But we still would need someone to moderate it on a daily basis. If anyone is interested in moderating, please contact me.

The COVID Vaccine and Cooperation with Evil
You may have heard about the controversy over the use of COVID vaccines, two which have already been released. Unfortunately, they used aborted fetal tissue in the testing of the vaccines which, rightfully so, is ethically challenging. Since none of us were called up to approve it nor did we approve of the abortion, morally our cooperation in the process is considered remote. But because evil is involved, their use is considered justified since COVID is not only so deadly, but 10% of those who survive are estimated to have serious complications. Not only the USCCB, but also the national CMA, the American Association of Prolife OB/Gyn, the National Catholic Bioethics Center, and the Christian Medical and Dental Association have come out with statements supporting their use. The physician groups signed a joint statement below:

If you receive the vaccine, here is a sample letter to send:

Another good resource to read if you want to understand Church teaching is a letter from the Sacred Congregation on the Doctrine of the Faith under St. John Paull II when Pope Emeritus Benedict was the head: Vatican Statement on Vaccines Derived From Aborted Human Fetuses (immunize.org)
Vatican Statement on Vaccines Derived From Aborted Human Fetuses – Immunization Action Coalition
MORAL REFLECTIONS ON VACCINES PREPARED FROM CELLS DERIVED FROM ABORTED HUMAN FOETUSES. The matter in question regards the lawfulness of production, distribution and use of certain vaccines whose production is connected with acts of procured abortion.
I recognize that people of good will can disagree on this. It requires prudence to determine the amount of evil we can justify. But if you disagree with what these organizations and the Vatican advise, at least listen to them with an open and humble heart. You can respectfully dissent, but don’t condemn those who choose to follow them.
Peace.
