St. Benignus and the Senchus Mór: The Supreme Court Tackles Gender Dysphoria

November 9 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

$5 – $10

This coming term, the Supreme Court of the United States will consider the constitutionality of Tennessee SB1, a law banning hormonal and surgical interventions for gender dysphoria. We will discuss the potential impact of the case, United States v. Skrmetti, on both the medical profession and the U.S. legal system as a whole, drawing light from the work of St. Benignus, whose feast we celebrate on November 9. St. Benignus, known as “St. Patrick’s psalm-singer,” was instrumental in helping St. Patrick compile the Irish code of laws (the Senchus Mór) in the 5th century.
