Mass 9:00 am followed by a presentation by Fr. Eric Nielsen, St. Paul’s Student Center, Madison: Healing the Psychologic Trauma of Today’s Elite College Students
Our first 2022 Milwaukee Guild event, on April 30, was well attended, with approximately 180 attendees.
Fr. Eric shared his pastoral experience working with college students at the University of Wisconsin, Madison as pastor at St. Paul Catholic Student Center (https://uwcatholic.org)
His discussion centered on the marked increase of anxiety and depression amongst these gifted students, who have every reason to expect a bright future. He emphasized the importance of human relationships as the path to happiness and fulfillment. He also discussed the differences in causes of anxiety and depression between female and male students. Attendees noted many takeaway messages in his experiences and observations including the importance of a prayer life as well as a plan of life. There were many inspiring anecdotes that demonstrate the positive impact on students who become involved at the beautiful new St. Paul’s Center. Dr. DasGupta who moderated the session encouraged everyone to pay a visit to St. Paul Center and attend a Mass to understand the difference it is making.
His message was interesting, well-received, and enjoyable!
