Our 21st-century lives are becoming increasingly digitized — from social media to Zoom meetings to fitness trackers to AI scribes in hospitals. As these trends accelerate, and as our lives are increasingly guided and formed by AI and digital culture, the most human aspects of our lives can atrophy. From a Catholic perspective, this challenge is especially pressing, since for Catholics, the sacraments meet us in our humanity. In this talk, I diagnose our current situation and issue a call to action to resist problematic trends in it.
